Inclusions in Sunstone

This remarkable spectrum of colours was produced by interference colours when bright light was bounced off the surfaces of orientated microscopic waffer thin polygonal shaped inclusions of hematite (and to a lesser extent goethite) trapped inside a sunstone.

The largest of the reflections is about 0.1mm in size.
